1. Provision a Yale Module

IMPORTANT: These steps require that you have been granted the “Integrator (Home Access)” role within the Chirp Admin Panel OR the Property Manager permission within the STRATIS Management application.

1. Download the Chirp Access mobile app: https://www.chirpsystems.com/app.

2. If your property is using the STRATIS mobile app, log in to the Chirp app with your STRATIS account credentials (phone number and email), and create a Chirp password.

3. Tap on the three ellipses “” in the bottom menu.

4. Under the Staff Dashboard, tap Home Access Management.

5. Select the Property and then Units.

6. Select the Unit Number and tap Add Module to this Unit.

7. Scan the Serial Number barcode on the module box or on the module itself (the barcode on the box works better for iPhones). Alternatively, manually input the Serial Number.

8. Select the name of the door and Save.

9. A green success banner message will display indicating that the module is provisioned.

10. Tap Next Unit to add a module to the next unit, or Back to go back to the list of Units (Step 6). Pull the screen down to refresh your Property Overview data.

2. Register the Module with the Yale Lock

Start with a new lock or factory reset lock and install the lock as you would any other lock. Then, follow these steps:

IMPORTANT: Never remove or add a module without first removing at least one battery from the lock. Failure to remove batteries during module insertion/removal can destroy the module.

1. Remove at least one (1) battery from the lock, then carefully insert the module until you hear a click.

2. Insert all 4 batteries.

3. Place your hand on the touchscreen to wake up the lock.

4. Enter an 8-digit master code, then tap the gear icon to complete.

  • If you need help create a unique master code, use the random code generator found in the Chirp Access mobile app under Staff Dashboard. Do not use the same master code for all locks on your property.

5. Place your hand on the lock’s keypad to begin the handing process. The lock will indicate success with a verbal “Lock Handing Completed” message.

6. Finally, wake up the lock by placing your hand over the keypad:

  • Enter the master code followed by the gear icon.

  • Configure the Wireless Module Setting Mode: Tap 7, tap the gear icon, tap 3, and tap the gear icon one final time. This step is critical to register the module with the lock.

3. Test Bluetooth Operation of the Lock

IMPORTANT: This step is absolutely CRITICAL for proper lock functionality.

In the Chirp Access Mobile App:

1. Under the Staff Dashboard, tap Create Unit Key.

2. Select the property and the unit.

3. Select a Duration, Purpose: Smart Lock Provisioning, and tap Create Unit Key.

4. Test the lock by locking and unlocking the door at least twice with the Chirp app to verify proper functionality and installation with the door frame.

De-provision/Factory Reset a Module

If a lock’s module needs a replacement, the existing module must be de-provisioned.

In the Chirp Access Mobile App:

1. Under the Staff Dashboard, tap Home Access Management.

2. Select the property and then Units.

3. Select the Unit number and tap the name of the lock.

4. Tap Remove This Module.

5. Verify your actions and tap Continue to remove the module.

How to Factory Reset the Yale Lock (If Needed)

This step is only necessary if you forget the mastercode or need to re-provision the entire lock:

1. Remove the battery cover and batteries. Do NOT remove the module.

2. Remove the far left and far right batteries.

3. Remove the screws beneath the far right and far left batteries.

4. Remove the screw at the very bottom of the lock.

5. Remove the interior side of the lock to access the reset button (photo below). The reset button is located beside the PCB cable connector.

6. While pressing the reset button (for a minimum of 3 seconds), reinstall the batteries.

7. Open the door so you can see the front of the lock.

8. Once the lock starts cycling through keypad numbers, release the reset button. The lock is now reset.

9. Remove the batteries again (far left and far right, as you did in Step 3), replace and tighten the screws, reinstall the batteries, replace the battery cover, and replace the screw at the bottom of the lock.

You are finished!
