Overview

Yale locks do not support the use of smart keys and fobs.

The USB enrollment feature was introduced to allow for properties with Yale locks (or IoT properties with no locks) to enroll smart keys and fobs for use with the common area access control system integrations.

USB enrollment allows property staff to assign keys to residents and staff without having to enter the Chirp Admin Panel or the Brivo Access platforms.

Required Equipment

There are 3 physical components required to ensure the USB enrollment feature works as designed.

  • Supported USB Enrollment Reader

  • Supported Smart Keys / Fobs / Cards

  • Supported Access Points

Supported USB Enrollment Readers

The required USB enrollment reader is available in two different versions that look cosmetically identical. The difference between the two is the presence of SAM (Secure Access Module) loaded with the Chirp encryption keys. Both versions are compatible with Windows or Mac PCs and do not require any driver or software installation.

Properties that do not have Chirp as the access control solution must use the unencrypted USB enrollment reader, whereas properties with Chirp as the access control solution must use the encrypted USB enrollment reader.

Encrypted USB Enrollment Reader

Currently, this reader requires assembly by the RCP.
