Overview

Currently our Yale integration does not support the ability for staff to create and deliver PIN codes for Residents that do not wish to use the STRATIS mobile app.

If you have a situation where a Resident refuses to use the STRATIS Mobile App to create their own PIN and you do not wish to distribute mechanical keys, the instructions below allow your staff to create a PIN for the Resident so they can open their lock. Note: the Yale lock refers to these PINs as User Codes.

User Codes are not owned by anyone, their usage is untracked, they will appear differently in log history, and only staff can remove them through the a specific action within the STRATIS mobile app. For these reasons, User Codes should be used as the last option.

How to Register a User Code through Yale Lock Keypad

1. Touch the lock’s keypad to illuminate the keypad.

2. Enter the master PIN, then tap the gear icon.

3. Select register user code by tapping 2, then tapping the gear icon.

4. Confirm intent to register a user code by tapping 1, then tapping the gear icon.

5. The staff member/resident now enters their 4-8 digit untracked user code, then taps the gear icon. The lock will flash the untracked user code sequence.

6. Tap the checkmark icon. The lock will play a “completed” confirmation message.

If property staff does not know the current master PIN, the lock will need to be factory defaulted and a new master PIN created. The lock will also need to configured again to exit the wireless network.

How to Delete Untracked User Codes through the STRATIS Mobile App

Property staff can delete untracked user codes by creating a mobile key and while in Bluetooth range:

1. Expand the lock view.

2. Tap Lock Settings.

3. Tap Delete Static PIN Codes.

Please see the Yale - Chirp User Guide for additional information.

How Untracked User Codes Appear in Lock Activity Log

When referring to the screenshot below, notice how some unlocks via the keypad have no owner. These are events where the untracked user code was used to gain entry.
