Overview

Yale Assure 1 series reached end of sale in June 2024 and will be replaced by Yale Pro 2:

  • YRD614

  • YRD624

  • YRD634

  • YRD654

The Pro 2 is the multifamily version of the Assure 2 with a 90-minute fire rating for professional and multifamily use.

Pro 2 does not require the use of modules. From an installer perspective, the biggest difference between Pro 2 vs. Assure 1 + module is that Pro 2 locks are configured entirely through the Chirp Access app, no keypad interaction is required.

This article covers the following topics:

Supported Scenarios for Lock Setup and Install

Chirp currently supports two (2) installation scenarios:

1. Recommended: Staff/installers provision, install, and program the lock onsite.

2. Not recommended: Distributors provision the lock in their warehouse, staff/installers install and program the lock on site. This method is error-prone due to mis-labeling and mishandling (not recommended).

Programming a Yale Pro 2 Lock with the Chirp Access App

Video Walkthrough

Steps

1. Physically install the Yale Pro 2 lock on the unit door by following the Installation Instructions.

2. Download the Chirp Access mobile app. If your property is using the STRATIS Mobile app, log in to the Chirp Access app with your STRATIS staff account credentials (phone number and email), then create a Chirp password.

3. Tap the Three Ellipses in the bottom right corner of the page.

4. Under the Staff Dashboard, tap Home Access Management.

5. Tap the Property, then tap Units.

6. Tap the Unit, then tap Set up a Device.

7. Scan the QR Code located on the side of the lock beneath the battery cover or on the label on the box.

  • You can also tap Enter Serial Number Manually and enter the numbers.

8. Tap the Lock Name, then tap Save, Install Now.

  • If the locks have not yet been installed (for example, if they are being provisioned in a warehouse to be shipped to the property), tap Save, Install Later. Once the locks are installed on the unit door, tap the name of the door, then tap Finish Lock Programming to proceed to the next step.

9. Make sure you are standing near your device and the batteries are installed. On the lock, the keypad should animate in a clockwise pattern. If you do not see the animation, press the Yale logo. Then, in the Chirp Access app, tap Begin Setup.

10. Follow the prompts to program and finally test the lock:

  • Wait until the app completes the configuration steps (each is denoted by a check mark when complete).

  • Click Done at the confirmation message.

  • Test the lock by tapping the Tap to Unlock button.

11. After testing the lock, tap Delete Unit Key and then you will see a green success banner message indicating the device is successfully set up.

Factory Resetting the Lock with the Chirp Access App

Factory resetting the lock through the Chirp Access app will restore the lock to its original settings. All logs, pin codes, offline keys and the programming code will be removed from the lock, but the lock will remain assigned to the original unit.

1. Open the Chirp Access app and under Home Access Management, tap the Unit and then the name of the door (for example, Front Door).

2. Tap Factory Reset Lock and Confirm to restore the lock to its original settings.

Reprogramming the Lock after a Factory Reset

After the lock is factory reset, the lock will need to be re-programmed for use.

To re-program the lock, tap Reprogram Lock on the Lock Details page and follow the prompts to program and test the lock.

Hardware Factory Resetting a Yale Pro 2 Lock

Performing a hardware factory reset on the lock via the reset button will revert the lock to its factory settings. However, PIN codes and offline keys created by residents will remain intact.

For this reason, we do not recommend performing hardware factory reset unless the lock was initially configured manually.

1. Remove the battery cover and one battery from the lock.

2. Press and hold the reset button (left side of the lock interior) with the reset tool provided in the hardware box.

3. Reinsert the battery, while continuing to hold the reset button for one (1) minute.

4. Replace the battery cover.

5. The lock will chime, and the keypad will animate in a clockwise pattern indicating a successful reset.

6. Wait one (1) minute before attempting the device setup in the Chirp Access app.

Manually Programming a Yale Pro 2 for Dead Zones

1. In a location with adequate internet connection, follow Steps 1 - 8 in How to Program a Yale Pro 2 Lock with the Chirp Access App. At Step 8, tap Save, Install Later.

2. Install the lock on the physical unit door.

3. Insert all batteries and wait for the lock to animate in a clockwise pattern for pairing mode.

4. Press the small black button on the interior side of the lock until the 1 and Gear are illuminated on the keypad.

5. To create the programming code, press 1 + Gear, and then enter a 4-8 digit programming code followed by Gear.

6. To hand the lock, enter the programming code followed by Gear, then 3 + Gear, then 5 + Gear.

When the programming code is manually set up with the steps above, the user will be able to access option 2 to create entry codes (STRATIS temp unit PIN codes). Temp unit PINs should only be used as a workaround for new residents who do not have internet access during move-in.
