Important Things to Know

Brivo Mobile Passes

Brivo mobile passes allow STRATIS Mobile app users to unlock Brivo-controlled doors and access points. These passes are required for the Brivo platform and may be purchased from your local Brivo integrator/installer. STRATIS typically recommends that property’s purchase enough passes to cover their staff list and enough to cover their resident and visitor population.

STRATIS recommends you have at least twice the count of your units and staff. For example: a property with 200 apartments and 25 staff would have 450 passes. You can check the availability of your passes in the Brivo application.

Remote Unlocking & Proximity Restrictions within the STRATIS Mobile App

Brivo readers come equipped with a Bluetooth radio inside them. On the back of each Brivo reader is a sticker that displays the serial number (SN) of the reader. This SN is recorded by Brivo integrators in the Bluetooth Reader ID field inside the Brivo Access platform. If this value is not recorded, STRATIS mobile app users will be able to unlock the Brivo-controlled door from any geographic location. If the property staff would like to enforce a physical proximity requirement for STRATIS mobile unlocks (i.e., the phone must be within Bluetooth range to unlock), please ensure that your Brivo integrator entered the SNs into the Brivo Access platform during the integration process. Proximity restrictions can be enforced on a per-access point basis.

Please contact your Brivo integrator/installer when troubleshooting issues related to Brivo readers.

Please do not use the Brivo mobile app if you are using Brivo with STRATIS, as it will causes issues and downtime.

Brivo Readers Installed in Elevators

Brivo readers installed inside elevators must have their serial number associated with the door inside the Brivo Access platform. This is because most elevator cabs have very poor Wi-Fi and cellular reception and the only means to gain access is by communication via Bluetooth between the mobile device and Brivo reader.

For more information on Brivo use in elevators, please see the Elevators section in the Appendix.

Brivo PINs

Brivo keypad readers may be present on the property, depending on decisions made between you and your Brivo installer. If keypad readers are present, your property has the option to offer an additional access method through the use of PIN.

PIN functionality is enabled at the role level. For example, STRATIS can configure the application so that staff and/or residents will automatically receive PINs in their activation email once they have been created within the STRATIS management app. This means that you cannot assign PINs to individual users – they are automatically assigned based on role.

Receiving Your PIN

PINs are communicated to the end user through their initial account activation email. See the screenshot below for an example of a typical account activation email containing the PIN information. The user’s PIN will be active immediately upon receipt of the activation email.

Using Your Common Area PIN

Enter your PIN on a Brivo keypad reader followed by the “#“ symbol. This symbol must be entered after the PIN, or access will not be granted. If you entered the correct PIN and you are authorized to access the door, the Brivo reader’s status light will turn green to allow access. Brivo readers vary by appearance, but the status light is located at the top of the reader and will turn green when access is granted.
