The following is a list of terms used in this user guide:

  • Mobile Keys are smartphones with the STRATIS Mobile app installed, used in the same way as a smart key.

  • Property Administrators are staff who have been granted permissions to add and update staff users, user permissions, and site-wide settings.

  • Property Management Software (PMS) is additional, non-STRATIS management software which your property may or may not use. If you do use a PMS, this should be your source of truth for resident information. You won’t be able to edit resident information in STRATIS because that information is synced to us via your PMS.

  • Reader refers to devices capable of reading and validating fobs and are usually located at building doors. When a fob/key is placed on a reader, the access control system opens the lock if the reader can validate the fob has the correct access.

  • Residents are the people who live in the building. They’re managed by staff and property administrators.

  • Smart Keys are the physical tokens or fobs that you program to allow specific users to access specific areas.

  • Staff are the administrators and employees of the building. For each staff member who’ll need access, you must create a staff user profile.

  • Staff keys are the keys used day-to-day by property staff. Staff keys can be mobile or smart keys.

  • STRATIS Management app is the STRATIS website used by property staff and administrators to manage access for a property.

  • STRATIS Mobile app is the mobile app used by residents and staff.

  • Unit is one singular designated apartment or residential suite. When that unit has one or more residents living in it, this is called an Occupied Unit. When there are no residents living in the unit, this is referred to as a Vacant Unit.
