This article describes how to program a door lock on a dormakaba property in the Community application using an HH6. The HH6 is a handheld device allowing programming of locks in dormakaba integrations and connects to a dormakaba computer via USB.

Downloading Door Files to the HH6

1. Connect the HH6 via USB to the dormakaba computer.

2. Log in to the dormakaba Community.

3. In the Community, select Programming and Auditing.

4. Select Programming.

5. In the left menu, select the unit doors you wish to program.

6. Click Transfer.

7. The HH6 and Community will indicate the transfer is complete.

Programming the Door

Once you complete these steps, only property-issued credentials will operate the lock. Construction credentials will no longer work and you will not be able to return to construction mode.

1. Bring the HH6 to the door you want to program.

2. Select Locks in the menu.

3. Click Program.

4. Select the lock you wish to program using the up/down arrows.

5. Click Enter.

  • You will see a message indicating “Press OK and THEN approach the lock” if NFC is enabled. NFC is required for Saffire, Nova D, RT Plus, and other locks compatible with STRATIS. If you do not see this message, it means that Probe is selected as the communication type (please see the Notes section below for additional information on Probe vs. NFC). Navigate to Settings and select NFC by following the steps below:

    • Click Tools, then select Settings, then select Probe type.

    • Select NFC, then click Home to return to the Home page.

    • Repeat steps 1 through 5.

    • Click OK at the “Press OK and THEN approach the lock” dialogue.

  • Present the HH6 to the face of the lock by holding the black “window” at the top of the HH6 to the lock reader face, then hold until you see “Lock XXX has been programmed succesfully” on the HH6.

  1. The lock is now programmed.

Notes

  • Door File Expiration: Default is one (1) day. This value can be changed in Settings.

    • Click Settings, then select Security, then expand Maintenance Unit (HH6), then specify the desired value for Programming data expiration.

    • Click Save when finished.

  • Probe vs. NFC: As stated above, most dormakaba-supported locks support the industry-standard Near Field Communication (NFC) protocol. A small number of dormakaba locks are programmed via Probe (such as the Quantum Pixel), but they are uncommon and difficult to use.

  • Battery Jump with ELPS and Lock Programming: Don’t do these two things simultaneously, as it will cause issues.

  • Door File Sharing among Locks: While dormakaba technically allows you to re-use doors files (for example, programming the same door file to multiple doors), please DO NOT EVER do this, as it very risky. The one exception is using a “vacant unit” door file to program multiple vacant units.
