FAQ
What’s the difference between an Energy Program and an Energy Event?
An Energy Program is a broader opt-in opportunity to save energy during times of peak energy demand, such as a program that runs for an entire summer. An Energy Event is a specific day and time (e.g. Tuesday from 5-7pm) that falls within that Energy Program.
What is Demand Response?
Demand response is an industry term synonymous with what we call energy events. Essentially, in partnership with your energy provider, we’re attempting to relieve stress from the power grid to prevent outages or other high-impact scenarios. By participating you not only do your part to help keep your grid powered, but also save yourself money on energy costs.
I’m a Resident - How will I be rewarded?
What you could be rewarded with will depend on your unique property’s offering. Each property’s energy program is custom to their energy provider and property owners. You should see messaging about your property’s specific rewards in your STRATIS Mobile App, and might also receive additional emails about rewards opportunities.
Who is Enersponse?
Enersponse is STRATIS' trusted energy partner who enables us to link up with utility Energy Programs, as well as energy data for your apartment.
Can I still change my thermostat during an energy event?
Sure! You can always override the energy settings in your STRATIS Mobile App or just by changing your thermostat manually. While doing so, you’ll receive some messaging about how this un-enrolls you from the specific event (not from the program), which could impact your eligibility for program rewards depending on your property’s reward requirements.
Can I opt-out of the energy program?
You can easily opt-out within the STRATIS Mobile App at any point. But remember, the amount of time you’re enrolled in the program typically impacts your property’s Resident rewards structure, and opting-out of the program will remove you from those opportunities.
What is Ramp-up?
Ramp-up is a term used to indicate that we’re preparing your apartment for an energy event. During energy events, we’ll often turn the thermostat to a more energy-friendly setting. During the summer, we may pre-cool the apartment prior to an event. That way it’ll still be comfortable as the ambient temperature slightly increases during the actual event.
What is Ramp-down?
Ramp-down simply means that we’re resetting your thermostat(s) back to their original settings from prior to the energy event. No action is required on your part.
