Before you can create smart keys in STRATIS, you’ll need to commission your MT20W in your Engage site. This is a one-time action. Once your MT20W is commissioned, you’ll then be able to program keys as necessary using STRATIS.
Open the Allegion Engage Mobile App on your phone or tablet
Plug in the reader to your computer or a wall outlet using a charging brick
The reader will go through its start up sequence
The light will turn red and beep once
Then it will flash and beep 3 times
The reader is now ready to be commissioned
Select your site
Confirm you are on the right site by checking to see if STRATIS SUPPORT is listed under your My Team tab
Commissioning your device to a site that is not linked to STRATIS will prevent it from working
Tap the + button on your screen to commission a device
From the list select MT20W
You will then be prompted to select the reader from a list of serial numbers
The serial number is located on the bottom of the reader looks typically like S/N: C200000000000C12
The app will prompt you to confirm if your reader is blinking blue by tapping Yes
If your reader has firmware version 39.02 or higher you will be prompted to select either WiFi or USB mode
WiFi mode allows you to setup your reader on a WiFi network and place it anywhere around your office. A key can be created from any computer as long as someone is near the reader to place the fob on it
USB mode does not need a WiFi connection so it is plugged into a computer that acts as your home station for making keys. The Engage Desktop App will need to be open in the background while making keys and it can be moved around to different computers as long as the Desktop App is downloaded and open. USB mode is usually more reliable for properties with WiFi issues
If you selected WiFi you will be prompted to select a WiFi network from a saved list or to add a new network yourself
Type in your WiFi SSID (Network name)
Note: The reader can only connect to 2.4 GHz Networks
Select WPA2
Type in your network password
Check or uncheck Save Network Info
Select Next to connect your reader to the WiFi
If prompted confirm that the rest of the configurations are correct (These are usually automatically inputed)
Select DNS
Confirm the server name is allegion-api.stratisems.com
Select Secured
You should receive a big green checkmark page when it is commissioned and click Finish
If you selected USB mode the reader will begin setup and ask you if they should send you a link to download the Engage Desktop App
Once you receive the link to download the app click Exit
Be sure to select the relevant download link for either your windows or apple computer
Once the Desktop app is downloaded on your computer you can open it and begin to make keys
You are able to commission the reader without connecting the reader to the network if you cannot get it to connect after multiple tries
In this case click Exit and read the advanced troubleshooting steps
Once the reader is commissioned you can navigate to your property on STRATIS to begin making keys
IMPORTANT CONSIDERATIONS
Basic Troubleshooting When the Reader Disconnects
Once the reader is commissioned it may disconnect from the network
Simply unplug the reader and plug it back in
Once it finishes its start up sequence it should reconnect to the network
Restarting the reader is a good trick for any basic troubleshooting
Read here for more advanced troubleshooting steps
The MT20W Light Codes:
Red - Disconnected from the network will not be able to make keys
Blinking Red - Start up sequence / Failed to connect
Blinking Blue Fast - Searching for a WiFi network
Blinking Blue Slow - Connected to bluetooth
Solid Blue - Connected to the network and ready to make keys
Solid Green - A fob is sitting on the reader
Basic Rules of the Road
You will not be able to program a fob if the reader's light is anything but blue before you begin
While troubleshooting you will need to connect to the reader through bluetooth, but until you disconnect your phone from the reader you will not be able to make keys.
The reader will be blinking blue slowly until you disconnect, then it will attempt to reconnect to the network and turn solid blue
The reader must be connected to STRATIS in our database. This is normally conducted automatically but if you purchase a new reader it could be why it isn't working
Do not attempt to create your own Engage site as this will mean anything you commission to this site will not work with STRATIS. Reach out to someone on your property who has access to the correct site to be added. If no one has access to the correct site please reach out to our support team
