  1. Open the Allegion Engage Mobile App on your phone or tablet.

  2. Plug the MT20W into your computer or a wall outlet using a charging brick.

  3. The reader will go through its start up sequence.

    • The light will turn red and beep once.

    • Then it will flash and beep 3 times.

    • The reader is now ready to be commissioned.

  4. Select your site.

    1. Don’t attempt to create your own Engage site as anything you commission to this site will not work with STRATIS. Reach out to someone on your property who has access to the correct site to be added. If no one has access to the correct site please reach out to our support team.

    2. Confirm that you’re on the right site by checking to see if STRATIS SUPPORT is listed under your My Team tab.

    3. Commissioning your device to a site that isn’t linked to STRATIS will prevent it from working.

  5. Select the + button on your screen to commission a device.

  6. From the list, select MT20W.

  7. Select your MT20W from a list of serial numbers.

    • The serial number is located on the bottom of the reader and looks typically like S/N: C200000000000C12.

  8. The app will prompt you to confirm if your MT20W is blinking blue by selecting Yes.

  9. If your MT20W has firmware version 39.02 or higher you’ll be prompted to select either WiFi or USB mode.

    • WiFi mode allows you to setup your MT20W on a WiFi network and place it anywhere around your office. A smart key can be created from any computer as long as someone is near the MT20W to place the smart key on it.

    • USB mode doesn’t need a WiFi connection. It’s plugged into a computer that acts as your home station for making smart keys. The Engage Desktop App will need to be open in the background while making smart keys, but can be moved around to different computers as long as the Desktop App is downloaded and open during use. USB mode is usually more reliable for properties with WiFi issues.

  10. If you selected WiFi you’ll be prompted to select a WiFi network from a saved list or to add a new network yourself.

    • Type in your WiFi SSID (Network name).

      • Note: The MT20W can only connect to 2.4 GHz Networks.

    • Select WPA2.

    • Type in your network password.

    • Check or uncheck Save Network Info.

    • Select Next to connect your reader to the WiFi.

    • If prompted, confirm that the rest of the configurations are correct (These are usually automatically populated).

      • Select DNS.

      • Confirm that the server name is allegion-api.stratisems.com.

      • Select Secured.

      • You should receive a big green checkmark page when it is commissioned. Select Finish.

  11. If you selected USB mode the MT20W will begin setup and ask if you should be sent a link to download the Engage Desktop App.

    • Once you receive the link to download the app, Exit.

    • Be sure to select the relevant download link for either your Microsoft or Apple operating system.

    • Once the app is downloaded on your computer you can open it and begin to make smart keys.

  12. You can commission the MT20W without connecting it to the network if you can’t get it to connect after multiple tries.

    • In this case, Exit and begin troubleshooting steps.

  13. Once commissioned, you can navigate to your property on STRATIS to begin making smart keys.

  14. Once the MT20W is commissioned it may disconnect from the network.

    • Simply unplug the reader and plug it back in.

    • Once it finishes its start up sequence it should reconnect to the network.

  15. All MT20Ws must be connected to STRATIS in our database. This is normally conducted automatically but if you purchase a new reader without contacting us, these steps will fail.

  • Blinking Red - Start up sequence / Failed to connect

  • Blinking Blue Fast - Searching for a WiFi network

  • Blinking Blue Slow - Connected to Bluetooth

  • Solid Blue - Connected to the network and ready to make smart keys

    • You will not be able to program a smart key if the MT20W's light is anything but blue before you begin.

      • While troubleshooting you will need to connect to the MT20W through bluetooth, but until you disconnect your phone from it you will not be able to make keys.

      • The MT20W will be blinking blue slowly until you disconnect, then it will attempt to reconnect to the network and turn solid blue.

  • Solid Green - A smart key is sitting on the MT20W
